Why Slow Haste

When you subscribe to a Korean skincare box, what are you actually buying? For most boxes, the answer is a curator's monthly choice: someone with taste and access decides what belongs in your routine, and you trust their hand. That is a real service, and it works for a lot of people. Slow Haste is doing something different. We are not selling a curator's taste. We are selling a snapshot of what Korea is reaching for in real time, surfaced through ranking data and shipped to your door.

Two ways to find your masks

The curated routine. Most Korean beauty boxes are built around editorial curation. A team selects a quarterly or monthly assortment, often weighted toward full-size products across categories: a toner, an essence, a serum, a sleeping mask, a sheet mask or two. The price typically lands between $40 and $80 a month. This format is a good fit for someone rebuilding a full skincare routine from scratch, comfortable spending more for fewer, larger items, and happy to defer to one curator's point of view.

The signal. Slow Haste sends five sheet masks a month, selected from this month's Olive Young rankings, Hwahae rating velocity, and Korean clinic adoption data. The price is $19.99. This format is a good fit for someone who wants to explore Korean sheet masks without overcommitting, who values variety over bulk, and who is more interested in the data behind a pick than the taste of a single editor. Different fits for different shoppers.

What we read

The signal stack is specific. We track Olive Young top-100 rankings, refreshed daily, because Olive Young is where most of Korea actually buys skincare. We track Hwahae review velocity, drawing on over 10 million Korean-language reviews, because aggregate sentiment over time tells us what is sticking versus what is spiking. We track Korean dermatology clinic adoption, because the masks clinics stock and recommend tend to lead retail trends by a quarter or two. And we track TikTok velocity in Seoul, because that is where new product attention forms before it travels.

The rule we hold ourselves to: every mask in your monthly Dispatch ranks in the top tier of at least two of those data sources at the moment of curation. We are not picking by taste. We are tracking demand, and we are showing our work.

The honest tradeoff

Slow Haste ships sheet masks only. Not toners, not serums, not ampoules, not full-size anything. If you want a curated sample of a complete routine, with larger products to live on your shelf for months, this is not your box, and we would rather tell you up front. What Slow Haste offers is narrower and, we think, sharper: if you want to know what Seoul is actually buying right now, with the data behind every choice, this is the only box doing it.
